Claybrook Drive safety – next steps needed.  Probably cant get speed humps on Claybrook Dr., but sidewalks are possible. Ariel or Jeff Zuckerman will fill out request and letter from KMCA will support the idea of addition of sidewalks on Claybrook.  KMCA Letter of support will be sent by Gary to county.  Process includes: engineering analysis.  Reason why is residents believe it’s a dangerous street.  Parties on weekends.  County rents out facility to private parties.  Argument to be made for extention of existing sidewalks.

Speaker for next meeting – Vice president election necessary.  Logistics may preclude a December meeting.   Week of January 9th

Options for speakers:

Derek Berlage to talk about parks.

State senate representatives.

Wheaton development speaker.

            Tom Thompson

Treasurer's report - $992 in the bank and an invoice out to Barbara Ciment for $800.

Membership Drive – Membership is at an all-time low. At 81 current member households.  Momma Leah’s Pizza.  If you sign up for 2 years KMCA membership, you get a $5 coupon for Momma Leah’s Pizza.  KMCA will contribute $2.50.  Membership committee chair – Avis Hammond-Garcia

Welcome packet given to families new to the area including information packet about the area, such as local businesses.  Information about what the KMCA does and what we’ve accomplished over the years.

Cold calling expiring members.

Event revolving around membership drive.

Are we hurting the membership numbers by having people expire at different times per year.  By-laws change?

Free membership?

Traffic committee chair needed.  Traffic issues are not being addressed as they once were and as they need to be.

Crosswalk problems at Arcola Ave and Kersey.  Very difficult to safely cross.  Vehicles not yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk.  Paddle destroyed.  Ideas to help:

Ask county for additional paddles – properly placed.

            Stop sign

Lit crosswalk – like Twinbrook Pkwy

Newsletter article ideas –

Publication of services provided by the KMCA.

Clear your sidewalks

Late summer/fall newsletter needs to include notification of refraining from putting leaves in the roadway.

Proposal – increase annual dues.  Benefit of membership could include painting house numbers on curbs every year.

Block party – Chair, Kim Jones

Developed a post card to do a mailing to request people to come to an organizational meeting for the community block party.
