WHEATON, Md.-The Cub Scouts of Pack 771, chartered at Northwood Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, Md., were honored recently by the Kemp Mill Civic Association (KMCA) for their outstanding contributions to the Kemp Mill community. Seen here presenting the plaque are State Senator Leonard Teitelbaum (left) and KMCA President Ben Dayanim (right), with Pack 771 Cubmaster Stephen Koenig.

The plaque reads:

“Service, Achievement, Excellence: In Appreciation For Outstanding Civic Service, Cub Scout Pack #771. This award is granted in recognition of your ongoing service to our community and to our kids. Kemp Mill Civic Association, February, 2002.”

The plaque was presented at the Pack’s annual Blue & Gold Banquet to recognize some of the many service projects conducted by the Cub Scouts, which recently have included the adoption of several families for the holidays, helping to stock the Northwest Branch with fish, cleaning out the trash from the Northwest Branch basin in the Kemp Mill area, painting curbside no-dumping signs, helping to clean up the Kemp Mill traffic islands, collecting magazines for Holy Cross Hospital and its Adult Day Care Center, collecting toys and books for the Crossways Community Center, and collecting food for the Northwood Presbyterian Church’s food bank.

There are more than 60 Cub Scouts in the Pack ranging in age from 7-11 years, including children from Kemp Mill Elementary School, Glen Haven Elementary School, Hebrew Day School and Washington Christian Academy.
