Mill Estates Subdivision)200+ memberships bounded by Arcola Avenue,
Wheaton Regional Park, Springbrook Forest Subdivision, Northwest
Branch Creek, Northwood High School Property. Includes Kersey
Avenue extended and townhouses on south/west side of Arcola
II.. PROJECT INFORMATION
Briefly describe the project to be undertaken including
location, and area or community to be served. If this is a capital
improvement project, provide a sketch plan of the project: Remove
overgrown shrubs on traffic island to improve sight lines at the
intersection of Lamberton and Arcola. Replant with bulbs, ornamental
flowers and low growth plantings. Erect a Neighborhood Identification
Sign after obtaining county permit and WSSC/Washington Gas approval.
Sign will be used to identify community and to announce events
within the community. If funding permits, lesser signs may be
provided at the intersection of Arcola and Kemp Mill Road, and
at Hermliegh and Kemp Mill Road.
What problem or opportunity will be addressed by this project?
How will the community benefit? Remove visual hindrance to
traffic(overgrown shrubs, beautify a nuisance area, and provide
a neighborhood identity sign.
Provide a detailed work plan/timeline for implementing the
project:
l) Draw plot plan - 10/99
2) Have student volunteer remove dead trees/roots -
3/2000, 9/2000 4/2001
3) Apply for grant - 3/2001
4) Apply for sign permit 3/2001
5) Ask WSSC, Verizon and Washington Gas to locate and mark
site for obstacles -4/2001
6) Contract for Sign - 4/2001
7) Delivery of sign - 6/2001
8) lnstall sign -6/2001
9) Purchase and plant bulbs and plantings 6/2001
10) Send final accounting report to Mid County Services Center
7/2001

in its implementation or results? The Civic Association,
immediate neighbors, student volunteers from Kennedy High School
for service hours

maintain this project? Funding, and periodic weeding
and re-planting of any dead or seasonal plantings.
